Cedrela sinensis – Chinese Toon
A deciduous upright tree, with spectacular spring foliage. The young pinnate leaves emerge in early spring, unfurl a bright coral pink, hold this colouration for about a month before turning cream, and then finally a dull green colour.
Cedrela sinensis is perfect in a space where height is required but no canopy. Ideal as a specimen tree for spring colour.
Prefers full sun and does well in hot and dry conditions.
Height: 10 m. Width: 4 m.
Also known as Chinese Cedar.
Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
