A herbaceous, rhizomatous, perennial plant, with beautiful fern-like soft apple green leaves. The foliage emerges from the ground after a winter dormant period, and forms a beautiful spreading clump of foliage.
In spring to autumn, flowering stems are held above the foliage, with racemes of white pendulous flowers.
Native to the moist woodlands, forests, and stream banks of western North America, from California to British Columbia.
