White Bleeding Heart. Syn. Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Alba’
This pure white form of a graceful perennial plant with unusual heart shaped flowers, best known as a Bleeding Heart plant.
Dicentra are cool climate plants native to Siberia, northern China, Korea and Japan, and are best suited to a light shaded area in the garden. Also happy growing in a large pot where moisture is readily available.
After a short winter dormancy, soft green fern-like leaves emerge from the basal clump. These are followed by arching stems, underneath which appear a row of heart shaped blooms. Up to a dozen flowers dangle along the stems, like a natural charm bracelet.
