Paeonia lactiflora ‘Felix Supreme’   –   Herbaceous Peony

This vigorous variety has beautiful deep pink-to-red blooms that carry a light scent.

Selected as an improved form to that of a popular variety called ‘Felix Crousse’. The variety was bred by Mr. Nicolaas Isaac Willem Kriek, a peony breeder from Michigan who introduced peony ‘Felix Supreme’ in 1955.

This excellent variety is suitable for the garden or for exhibition, with mid-season blooming on flowering stems to 1.2 metres tall.

Kriek was born in 1895, in Leyden, Holland. He immigrated to America in 1919 and later owned the Cottage Gardens in Lansing, Michigan. From here he introduced 6 new peony varieties and also employed Abraham Newhouse from 1928. Newhouse hailed from the Netherlands and also introduced many great varieties, including one of Chris’ favourites ‘Virginia Dare’.
