Paeonia officinalis x lactiflora ‘Red Charm’ – Herbaceous Peony
This variety flowers early in the season, producing large, deep red, bomb-type blooms with large outer guard petals that hold the beautiful bloom together.
Flowers are also fragrant, with a slight clove scent.
Strong stems hold the large blooms, growing to a height of 60-90cm above the green foliage.
This popular cut flower keeps well in a vase and was also awarded a Gold Medal by the American Peony Society in 1956.
Bred by Lyman D. Classcock from Elwood, Illinois in 1944, just 8 years before his death at the age of 77. After Lyman’s death his daughter Elizabeth Glasscock Falk took on breeding and growing peonies.
Recipient of an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
