Paeonia ‘Bartzella’ – Itoh Peony
An award winning and very popular intersectional (itoh) peony.
Blooms are large, 15-20cm wide, semi to fully double, and bright yellow with delicate red flares at the base. As a bonus, they are also fragrant, with a lovely lemon scent.
Flowers late mid-season, over a relatively long period of 3-4 weeks. Flowers profusely, around 30 blooms the first year of blooming size and twice that once mature.
Blooms are held on strong stems, rising up to 80 cm above a bushy mound of lustrous green foliage. Foliage takes on autumnal colours before it drops in autumn.
Awarded the American Peony Society Gold Medal in 2006, and also holds a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
